the problem

working more and still not making more

when i started out i was shooting restaurants for next to nothing and saying yes to almost every job that came my way. the work was good, my clients were happy, and i still had no idea what i'd be making three months out.

maybe that sounds like your week too. another weekend gone, another client who wants great photos on a small budget, and a whole lot of busy that never turns into more money. you say yes to work you don't love because turning it down feels like a risk.

shooting more didn't fix it for me, and getting better at it didn't either. the kind of work i was taking could only pay so much, and the business side was something i was still figuring out as i went, so every month started back at zero.

"she helped me launch from a place of power and structure, and i'll definitely be coming back for more, especially to learn how to build long-term revenue from every project i shoot."

the answer

what it looks like on the other side

you're shooting less and making more money, because one project can pay you before the shoot day and long after it. the companies who worked on that building can buy those photos from you too, so a shoot from two years ago still sends you money.

your prices come from what the work is worth to those companies, and finding the next project is something you know how to do instead of something you wait around for. the pieces behind the shoot run the same way every time, so you're not rebuilding all of it for every job.

and the part that matters most, you've got better clients and your weekends are yours again.

what's inside

built to stand runs 4 weeks, one module a week, with a live group call every week.

module 1

get you shooting

you already know your camera, so this week is about using that inside a building. framing, the shot list, and working with whatever light is in the room, no flash needed. you'll also learn how to outsource your editing, and by the end of the week you've photographed a space.

module 2

get you booked

this is where you find the architects, designers, and builders working near you, and get in front of them before they go looking for a photographer. you'll reach out on a schedule instead of when things get quiet, and you'll know what to do when an inquiry comes in so it turns into a booked job.

module 3

get your systems running

the workflow and tools behind every job, so each one runs the same way and your editor knows what to do without a long explanation every time. it's also where you learn to track down every company that worked on a project and get the photos in front of them, which is how one shoot turns into more than one sale.

module 4

get you paid

day rates, and how usage and licensing work in plain english, so you're not guessing at a number. this is where the cost sharing comes in, where several companies each pay toward the same shoot, and where you price the photos you sell after the shoot is done.

what comes with it

bonus 1

the shot list

the reference i use on shoot day. settings, framing, and the shots to get before you leave. it lives on your phone so you're not standing in a room trying to remember what's next.

bonus 2

the outreach templates

the emails i send to architects, designers, and builders, packaged so you can send your own without writing them from scratch.

bonus 3

the pitch page builder

the tool i use to put a proposal in front of a client, with the cost share calculator built in, so several companies can each pay toward the same shoot and you can show them the math.

bonus 4

voxer access, 4 weeks

weekdays, business hours, 24 hour turnaround. you get stuck on a price or an email on a tuesday, you send me a voice note and i answer.

first 5 people only

a 1:1 review of your first architecture set with me.

FAQs

how much time does this take each week?

one module a week plus a live group call. the lessons are recorded so you watch them when it works for you, and the real time is in the shooting and the outreach you do between calls.

what if i can't make the calls live?

they're recorded and you'll have them. send me your question on voxer beforehand and i'll answer it on the call either way.

i've bought courses before and never finished them. how is this different?

4 weeks, not a library you have to work through on your own. there's a call every week and you can reach me on voxer weekdays, so when you get stuck you're not sitting there alone with it.

i'm not shooting architecture yet. is that a problem?

no, that's who this is built for. you need to be able to shoot. the architecture part is what we're doing together, starting week 1.

isn't this competitive?

every building that goes up has a list of companies attached to it, and most of them want photos. module 3 is how you find them.

what if i'm not in a big city?

i'm in tucson, which isn't a big architecture market, and phoenix is a short drive so i shoot there too. you may have something similar near you. and buildings, restaurants, and hotels are going up everywhere, so you don't need a huge city for there to be work around you.

how do i get access?

you'll get a login right after you join. the lessons drop one module a week, and the call replays live in there too.

when does it start?

tuesday, october 6.

you already know how to shoot. this is the rest of it.

i spent years shooting restaurants and lifestyle work, saying yes to whatever came in, and then covid closed most of my clients and i had to decide what i actually wanted out of this.

i started shooting spaces for an online magazine, buildings i had no business photographing yet, and i figured it out as i went. one of those jobs is where i found the thing that changed everything. every building had a whole list of companies attached to it, and all of them wanted the photos. i owned those photos, so i sold them, and then i went after those companies for their next projects. i was learning how to shoot architecture and building the business at the same time, and that's the part that made it stick.

that's what these 4 weeks are. i'll show you how i shoot it, how i find the work, how i run it, and what to charge, and you'll have me on voxer the whole time if you get stuck.

doors close october 1. we start october 6.
